The reflective report must make use of at least 20 high-quality academic references (IN-TEXT APA style). 4. the reflective report is to be developed towards the end of the term, as it requires you to present a critical self-analysis and reflection of your learning as a result of experiencing Design Thinking activity within this unit. 5. The self-analysis and reflection must consider your personal development, as well as the development of your knowledge of Design Thinking topics. 6. As a conclusion, students are to develop an action plan of key events and activities that they can undertake over the next 6 months to acquire any knowledge, skills and behaviours identified as requiring development. 7. The reflective report should be submitted as a Word document with a length of 2,500 words, excluding preliminaries, tables, figures and references. 8. Your reflective report must make reference ( IN-TEXT APA style) to appropriate academic peer reviewed literature and theory in a critical way. 9. What is CROSS-REFERENCING? How does it work? It is a note in your own work that points the reader to another bit of text in your own work. For example, “See appendix 1” is a cross-reference to tell the reader to look into appendix 1 – if you do not understand this word, then it may be useful to simply google it as explanations are widely available. In your report, you are cross-referencing your blog, which means you are telling the reader at various points in your report to look at specific blog entries. This is NOT a citation or a literature reference, and therefore it is NOT available in the APA style guide. You need to figure out a way of clearly cross-referencing your blog but how you do this is up to you. I am recommending you use a simple format like the one I emailed you all in week 11: (see blog entry no. X, DD/MM/YYY). You are allowed to place your blog into your reference list but if you read the unit profile you will know that there is NO requirement to do so. 10. The main things you need to include are: (1) critical self-analysis and reflection on personal development, (2) critical self-analysis and reflection on knowledge development, and (3) action plan. This is what the unit profile says – you may want to consider a structure along those lines to ensure you cover all required elements. Please note: you do not have to reflect on everything we did in this unit; instead, it is recommended you prioritize your reflection and choose only some of your personal main experiences/learning. 11. How do we include literature in the action plan? There are many different ways, in which this can be done. I am suggesting two approaches here, but you can choose your own alternative approach if you like: One way to include literature is to propose specific reading that you will undertake to improve yourself (this needs to be referenced just like any other literature). An alternative way is to read about the weakness you have identified and the solutions that the literature proposed; you can then cite this literature to support your decision to include the actions you do include; e.g. Research (Kerby & Romine, 2009) has shown that students can improve their own presentation skills dramatically by video recording their presentation and watching it later.
