I believe as many of us agreed that buying and delivering small goods with patient money with clear receipt would not be harmful in context of patient-nurse therapeutic relationship only if such an act can assist and improve patients mental states and recovery. However, situation proposed above by Laura can be considered as risky practice as McClunie-Trust(2016) points out that the blurring lines between formal and informal roles in professional relationship may create ambiguity, threatening the safety of both patient and clinician. In personal experience, by allowing nurse to purchase the drinks and pack of snack with patient’s own money from the shop for particular patient only, created numerous complaints from other patients due to unfair treatment.
