The importance of nurture, nature, culture and diversity on different stages of the life course will be discussed. Following on from that the different stage of the life course is highlighted to understand the significance in a humans development and how their health and well-being is promoted. The essay will be elaborating on my chose biographical profile. I will be outlying what key development issues are formed in a human development. I will also be highlighting the development events which impact the chosen individuals health and well-being. For the purpose of the essay in order to protect identity, the name of the individual has been changed; and will be referred to as Jeanne here onwards. I interviewed Jeanne and created profile for her. The nature/ nurture, culture, diversity and other relevant theories pertinent to Bessies health will be applied and considered. Life Span Lifespan is duration of a humans existence, beginning from the day that they enter the world till the day that they pass away. According to, Larkin 2013 lifespan no longer refers well defined ridged stages such as childhood, adulthood and old age In the West childhood is being eroded and boundaries between childhood and adulthood are becoming blurred. Health and well-being has several description to it .It can be described as the achievement and maintenance of physical health and mental state. This is a positive meaning of health and well-being. This aspect could also be described as the result of a combination of physical intellectual, emotional and social factors, ideas about health and well-being varies depending on different cultures and life stages. Eriksons (1959) theory of psychosocial development has eight distinct stages, taking in five stages up to the age of 18 years and three further stages beyond, well into adulthood. Erikson suggests that there is still plenty of room for continued growth and development throughout ones life. Erikson puts a great deal of emphasis on the adolescent period, feeling it was a crucial stage for developing a persons identity. Jeanne is a 55 year old, Congolese born, black female. She is currently living in London and has 2 jobs one as a carer and the other as a cleaner in a nursery. She doesnt smoke nor drink does not do drugs and her biggest influences about health have mainly come from her doctor and closest friends. Jeanne has faced a number of problems throughout her life. For example, she was a single mother, she looked up to her mother who was also her role model and she looked up to her brothers who were her male influences. . Furthermore Jeanne later remarried and had become a mother of 5, Jeanne suffered after the death of her husband 20 years ago and has admitted to during her teenage years it had affected her mentally and socially, Jeanne admits that this incident had a massive impact on her health greatly; as her social lifestyle was affected and she had close friends and family for support during this difficult time as she kept pushing people away and didnt want to socialise. Jeanne herself got married and became a widow and has been diagnosed with depression. According to research depression is a mental health condition where a person has a long lasting low mood, and/or may lose pleasure or interest in activities. (2013) For the purpose of this essay discussion will focus around Jeannes diagnosis of depression and death of her husband. These issues will be looked at in detail and the impact these factors may have had on Jeannes health and wellbeing will be discussed. During middle adulthood (ages 40 to 65 yrs), we establish our careers, settle down within a relationship, begin our own families and develop a sense of being a part of the bigger picture
