Task
This assignment is only to write an introduction of an essay.
For this assignment, we would like you to write an introduction. The word count for this assignment is750 words including a 600 words introduction and a 150 words reflection (using Arial 11 pt, or Times New Roman 12 pt font, 1.5 line-spacing, and 2.54 cm margins)
The introduction is about how your chosen independent variable (THE LENGTH OF WORDS) affects memory. Remember, your independent variable should have 3 levels (THREE LETTER WORDS, FIVE LETTER WORDS AND SEVEN LETTER WORDS).The introduction contains a straightforward theoretical justification for the study THE WORLD LENGTH IMPACT ON SHORT-TERM MEMORY. This is not just a comprehensive review of the literature. It usually identifies a gap in the current literature, which the research tries to address. It should lead to a clear research question, finishing with a hypothesis THE SHORTER WORDS ARE EASIER MEMROIZED THAN LONGER WORDS, and a basic description of the design for the study that follows (WHICH I WILL PROVIDE IN ANOTHER FILE). Some examples of introductions will be made available.
For this assignment, you will research the topic of memory and find out what environmental factors, which is anything that is occurring outside of the individual that affect memory of simple stimuli over a relatively short period of time. That is, what things might impair or improve someones memory of simple stimuli(WORD LENGTH).You will need to find PEER-REVIEWED articles that describe empirical findings related to your chosen topic. You can use reasoned argument to support your introduction, but DO NOT include your opinions. Opinions are just that opinions – they are neither evidence nor fact and should not be included in the introduction.
To do this, you will need to find FOUR PEER-REVIEWED empirical journal articles and briefly describe what the researchers looked at and include:
o Why they looked at this (i.e., what was the rationale for the empirical study)?
o Who were the participants and how did they conduct their study?
o What did the researchers find (i.e., BRIEFLY describe their main results)?
o What conclusions did the researcher draw from their results (i.e., what do the findings from the study tell us about the topic)?
To critically review the literature means you must read, think about, and evaluate the articles you are reading.
You can write your hypothesis based on the articles you summarize.
