For your final culminating activity, you will choose
one
of the texts studied this semester (
A Midsummer Nights Dream
,
To Kill a Mockingbird
, or
Night
) and compare it to ONE song from ONE musical artist (ie. Justin Bieber or Maroon 5). You will be comparing literary devices used in both your chosen text and your chosen song using a common
theme
of your choice.
Once you have selected your text, choose a musical artist and ONE of their songs that share similar characteristics.
NOTE:
Only
two (2)
students may use the same musical artist. No song may be used by more than one student.
Find
three
literary devices in both the song and the text (three examples in total) that convey your chosen theme (ie foreshadowing in both
Orphan Train
and Skyfall by Adele convey the theme of despair).
In order to support your arguments, you must provide proof from the text. You need to cite specific quotations using MLA format.
FROM THE SONG You must reference specific lyrics (ie. one verse, the chorus not the entire song), or give a
brief
summary of the song to illustrate your point.
NOTE:
You must provide
one (1)
song for your analysis and three (3) literary devices that convey a common theme between the song and the chosen text

Present your information to the class using either PowerPoint or Prezi. If you are creating a PowerPoint, you must save it on a USB or upload it to D2L.
Your presentation should be
no more than 6 minutes
in length.
